Professional Developement

Today I visited www.Starfall.com. I went into the educators tab. This site has so much good information for the parents and teachers. This site is desinged to help children learn how to read. It has many good reviews by both the teachers and parents. The site helps the children with motivation, phonimec awarness, systemetic awarness, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehenshion. It has so many different things that the children can do to learn. The children like to do this because the website made it so fun, like a game. So the children don't even think that it is learning, but fun.
My daughter came home from kindergarten one day and she wanted to play a game on the computer. She told me it was a game she played in her classroom, I thought that we would not be able to play the game thinking that it was a program only for school. Thankful I did try it and yes it worked, my daughter loved it.

Professional Development Plan

I visited http://eduscapes.com/tap/topic21.htm today. I went to Educational Portals and starting Points. This webpage helps the teachers find a good website by putting a yellow star next to the websites name. This website has so much information on linking you to other good resourceful websites. Even other ones like higher education resources, subject directories and thematic starters for educators, focus on children, focus on young adults, and subject specific resources. On here I saw a few of the websites that I have been on before and I have to say that those websites are very resourceful. I am sure that I will make use of this website when I become a teacher.

I want to know more about... websites like this one, learn more on how to make things in my classroom useful for the students, how students use the technology in their homes, what parents know about technology.

Professional Development Plan

I visited www.education-world.com today. This site has so much to offer: lesson planning, professional development, technology integration, administrator's desk, school issues, and much more that is under more resources. Wow this website has so much to offer to teachers. They have so many great lessons that the teachers can use in their classroom. This website has probably any the lesson that you could think of. It has so much information about anything that you could think of. I think that this website would be one of the websites that I would use when I become a teacher and it might be the only one with all that information I don't think that I would not find what I am looking for.

Professional Development Plan

I visited www.K12conection.org today. On this page there were many different topics that we could choose from like: early childhood education, K12 education, educational activities, elementary education, toddler learning, virtual schools, and many more. I chose virtual schools and from there I clicked award winning virtual school. From there I went here http://www.thejubileeacademy.org/who/principal1.php. This site is about a home school program that parents can use to home school their children at home. The program is called The Jubilee Academy. I read on the principle of this virtual school. Her name is Karlie Margaret Houser who believes that learning comes through touching, hearing, and seeing. Not just in the classrooms, but rather really life experiences. She came up with a curriculum herself that later was used by her neighbor Fred Rogers. The program shows on PBS it is called "Mr.Rogers Neighborhood". I remember I used to see this show when I was a little girl. This is all so interesting, to find out about home schooling and that this particular academy is has a relationship with "Mr. Rogers".

How many children are home schooled?

Do they like being home schooled?

What is the difference of being home schooled and going to a public school?

Is "Mr.Rogers" still on PBS?
